Synopsis
Jessica Sweet thought going away to college would finally make her free of her parents’ constant judgments and insistence she play chastity club role model for their church events, but if anything, the freedom has made her realize she can’t go home and be a hypocrite anymore. Tired of dodging their questions, she stays at school over the summer and lands in an unexpected crash pad: Riley Mann’s house.
Sarcastic, cocky, and full of opinions, Riley is also sexy personified with tattoos and biceps earned from working as a roofer all day. Not the right guy for her even if Jessica was looking for a relationship, which she is definitely not. But Jessica knows that Riley hides the burden of having to raise his younger brothers behind that grin and as she helps him get his house in order for a custody hearing, they begin to fall hard for each other, and she is forced to question what she’s hiding herself.
Jessica has never had a problem getting naked with a guy, but when it comes to showing Riley how she truly feels inside, her fear of rejection may just ruin the best thing—the best guy—to ever happen to her…

Interview with Erin McCarthy
Why did you decide to
become an author?
I won a Young Author’s
contest in first grade and I was totally hooked. I was told it was a totally impractical
career though and I went to college to be a lawyer. Yeah.
That didn’t work out.
How do you balance writing
with other things in your life?
I’m been doing this for
ten years now so I’ve got this one done.
My kids are older and mostly on their own (daughter studies in Ireland, son
in finishing high school, but he spent the summer in New York City at NYU) so
my time is mine to use or abuse.
What is your favourite
thing about being an author?
I meet the coolest
people! I’ve done research at the race
track, fire station, police station, and in amazing cities like New Orleans,
plus all the awesome readers I’ve encountered over the years and the fellow
authors.
What are your favourite
books?
I have random and opposite
tastes. I love horror and thriller
novels yet my absolute favorites are Pride
and Prejudice and Jane Eyre. Of course, Jane Eyre does have a gothic tone so maybe it makes sense after
all!
What made you decide to
write a New Adult romance novel?
Honestly, it was my
editor’s suggestion, and I am grateful to her for being so smart. She knew I enjoy writing a younger heroine
and being able to delve more into messier relationships, and she is totally
right. I love the angst of new
adult.
Is there any specific
message you wanted to convey in the book?
I wanted to show that
first of all someone’s personal sex life is just that- personal – and we have
no business judging anyone else’s choices.
Also, that happy relationships come in different forms, from brothers in
a dysfunctional household looking out for each other, to a hero and heroine who
express affection with laughter and teasing, not traditional romantic
gestures.
What are your plans for
future books?
Book three in the series,
BELIEVE, will be out in January, and that is Robin’s story (along with a
mysterious Mann cousin) and then the fourth book, out in June, will be Kylie’s
story.
Do you have any hobbies
and Interests unrelated to books?
I love to decorate my
house, and I change things all the time.
I also love live music, dance (I bellydance) and I have a slight
obsession with anything Halloween or creepy.
Would you ever consider
putting these into any of your books?
A bellydancing
heroine? Haven’t done that yet, and I’m
not sure why!
FUN STUFF
If you could meet any one
author (dead or alive) who would it be and why?
Edgar Allan Poe so I could
pick his brain and see if he was anything in person like his stories.
Tell us one interesting
fact about yourself.
I’m allergic to chocolate.
What is your favourite
food?
Coffee. That’s a food, right?
What is the most
adventurous thing you have ever done?
No comment. LOL.
If you could be any
supernatural creature which would you choose?
Vampire. Stay young, live forever. I’m shallow enough to admit that. Werewolf, too hairy. Mermaid? Meh.
