Review of Don't Let Go

Synopsis

Sadie Miller is attempting to change her ways and hide somewhere no one knows her former self. She only wants to finish her final year of college, obtain her degree, and get out from the hold of her affluent parents. Then she meets Brady Carsen, the lead singer of The Invisibles, a local band popular with the college crowd. She tries to stay away but quickly realizes that, although he might not be what she’s used to, he’s exactly what she needs and more importantly, everything she could possibly want.

Unfortunately, Sadie’s troubled past left her with insecurities that make her question Brady’s true intentions. And while Brady is convinced that Sadie is the one for him, he has his own secrets that he fears will be their undoing. If they want to be together, they will have to stand united and fight the outside influences that are threatening to tear them apart. Can they put their pasts behind them for good in order to secure their future?

Review

This story was refreshing with both characters having their own dark secrets. Sadie and Brady’s secrets were different than the secrets that are seen in most NA novels, Often times I find the story lines of books way too similar, but the struggles and difficulties the two characters were original and refreshing.

Both of their secrets are heartbreaking in their own way and make you feel even more emotionally connected with Sadie and Brady. The story and their secrets keep you guessing from the beginning and it is easy to become hooked from the first chapter.

Brady refers to himself as her “white knight with an edge” and I couldn’t agree more. He is a rock star who has issues from his past that make him feel like everyone leaves. He sees Sadie and immediately wants to meet her. From the beginning the two struggle to leave the past in the past as they evolve as people and within their relationship. Ultimately Brady is a sexy, talented and heartbreaking. You can’t help but fall for him right along with Sadie.

Grandma Ida! Her character was one of my favorites. She often offered a little bit of comic relief, especially when dealing with Sadie’s father, who was horrible. Sadie works to start over in her life after tragedy strikes. Her father doesn’t understand her life, her dating Brady and blames her for the tragedy.

Michelle Lynn even introduces you to two other secondary characters, Grant and Jessa who you can’t help but be intrigued by. Grant is Brady’s friend from childhood, and life has caused them to become a twisted sort of frenemies. Jessa is Sadie’s best friend, who helps her grow and is the type of friend who will stand up for you no matter what the situation may bring. Their book is set to be released in October.

If you’re looking for a fun, quick, new adult story with an enticing plot, you should definitely read this book. Brady and Sadie will keep you wanting more until the very end.
