Synopsis
Laney Walker is a quick witted, athletic, southern tomboy who lets few get too close, using her sarcastic zingers to deflect. She also has no idea how others view her, Evan having protected and coveted her since they were children. But college puts a gap between Laney and Evan that neither of them were prepared for- old relationships are tested, new ones are formed and nothing will ever be the same.
Especially when in walks one Dane Kendrick, not at all the familiar, southern charmer of home, but an animal all his own.
A story of growing up, friendship, loyalty, first love, primal love...and life.
Mature content.
Review
This book kept appearing on my recommended books list on Amazon and I could never decide if this was a book I would actually like. I’m not usually a fan of books where there are two leading men. Let me tell you, now that I have read the book, I am so glad that I did.
Holy book boyfriends!
Usually when I read books that have a love triangle, there's one
character that I root for, wanting them to be the hero and win the girl.
However in this book, you felt the struggle as Laney battled her hearts desires
to decide which guy to be with. You saw the pros and cons of both relationship
and battled your own feelings right along with Laney.
The story is really about Laney finding herself. She
leaves her home to go to school an hour away while her two best friends go away
to her dream school together. She learns to make new friends, most of who are
male, and feel the emotions and challenges as the friendships made in collage
become like your family.
Evan and Dean both have their dreamy moments. Any guy
who is willing to take the relationship at whatever pace the girl desires is
swoon worthy in my book. But ultimately a dream Disney vacation is the major
moment of the book.
Reading the book you don't know who to root for. Laney
is so likeable, you are always hoping for her to find happiness whether it is
with Evan or Dean. Laney's only downfall
is her inability to decide what her heart desires. Just as Laney's friends
become frustrated with her love triangle, you as a reader feel their pain.
There are so many other promising characters in the
story as well. Laney’s roommate Bennett who works to bring her out of her
shell, Sawyer who despite his suggestive nature becomes one of her best
friends, and Zach who looks out for her no matter what the situation.
This NA book describes the difficulties of long
distance relationships and how it affects a person’s relationships. The book
does end with the promise of a second book in S.E. Hall’s Evolve series which will hopefully bring closure, as well as the
promise of more from the other characters in the series.

I have not heard this one, but from your review, I will definitely be checking it out. I always like girls that can hold their own. Great review.
