Interview with Karli Perrin

Why did you decide to become an author?

I have always loved reading and writing but it wasn't until last Christmas that I finally gave writing the time and attention it deserved. It was the best decision I have ever made.

How do you balance writing with other things in your life?
It's really difficult. Even when I'm not writing, I'm thinking about writing. I've always worked full time as well as writing which is really hard. I try to write whenever I can without ignoring my family too much!

What is your favourite thing about being an author?
Talking to my readers. I can't even explain how happy it makes me to talk to people about the characters that I have created.

What are your favourite books?
I love reading New Adult as well as writing it. Some of my favourites are Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire, Slammed and Hopeless by Colleen Hoover and On Dublin Street by Samantha Young. I'm also a huge fan of Divergent, The Hunger Games and Harry Potter!

Are there any books/authors that inspired you to write?
I have always been a huge book nerd so I would say that every author has inspired me. I grew up reading the Harry Potter books and think that J.K.Rowling is a genius!

Describe your book in one sentence
A rollercoaster ride of love and loss.

Where did you get the idea for your books? Did anything inspire you to write them?
The Gift - I wanted to write a fun, flirty, festive short story which was fast paced and packed full of emotion. I got the idea for April Showers when I was working in a school - it made me think back to my time as a student and I thought it would be fun to write a story where my MC was starting University. I wanted to explore April's new environments, new friends and new crushes ;)

What made you decide to write a New Adult romance novels?
I am a huge fan of NA and believe that my style of writing fits in perfectly - it's fun and edgy.

What would you say makes your book unique and worth reading?
It's fast paced and has lots of plot twists. I love reading reviews where people have been surprised by the plot!

Is there any specific message you wanted to convey in the book?
The Gift - I wanted to convey the message that life is the greatest gift of all. We should try not to take things for granted and just live life to the fullest.  April Showers - I didn't write the book with a message in mind but I think that 'no rain, no rainbow' is conveyed throughout the story. Life isn't always going to be easy and sometimes you have to go through tough times before you can find happiness.

What are your plans for future books?
The Gift and April Fools are releasing in December and then I have a couple of NA standalones which I'm going to work on.

Do you have any hobbies and Interests unrelated to books?
Is twitter a hobby? ;)

Would you ever consider putting these into any of your books?
Twitter? Absolutely, haha.

FUN STUFF

If you could meet any one author (dead or alive) who would it be and why?
J.K.Rowling. I would be a total fan girl! I recently met Colleen Hoover and Samantha Young which was awesome.

Tell us one interesting fact about yourself.
I met Anthony Horowitz when I was 13 - he read a chapter from one of his novels and had a signing afterwards.

What is your favourite food?
Pizza, I would eat it every day if I could.

What is the most adventurous thing you have ever done?
I climbed Mount Snowdon last year!

If you could be any supernatural creature which would you choose?
A vampire. Everybody says that I look like Kristen Stewart so I'm half way there!
