Mini Reviews - Fall Guy, The Elite and Reign Of Blood

Mini reviews are a new little thing here at Bookish Treasures. You see, sometimes it is hard to find a lot to say about a book. Maybe it is hard to write a long review without including spoilers or maybe the book didn't really inspire us and we don't have much to say. Sometimes it might even be that for whatever reason we were unable to write a review after finishing the book and though we can still remember our feelings for the book easily, we can't remember the details clearly enough for a long review. Whatever the reason, we still want to share our thoughts on these books with you so expect the occasional bunch of mini-reviews!

Fall Guy synopsis

I really enjoyed this book. It is a great NA romance with well-developed characters and sizzling romance. I loved that Evan wasn’t your typical sweet and innocent NA heroine and Winchester is so much more than just a sexy bad boy love interest. This book just had something unique and different that until now I hadn’t really seen at all in an upper YA and NA novel. Fall Guy is a book that is definitely worth checking out.

The Elite synopsis

 

Overall I really enjoyed The Elite. Whilst not as good as The Selection it was a good continuation to the series and this is developing into a great, romance based dystopian trilogy. America is incredibly fickle and because she is such a smart girl it made it slightly annoying to see her umming and ahhing over who she loves more and ignoring the more important things at times. However, I do actually enjoy the romance in this book and the love triangle is well done. I know who I am rooting for though both guys are incredible.

What I want now is to see this story evolve beyond the romance. There are some great dystopian elements that have been kept in the background so far that I really hope book 3 will bring us more of. I think this series would be even better if there was more of the rebellion and America’s powerful personality to balance out the more trivial “which guy should I choose?” elements.

Reign of Blood synopsis

 

I loved Reign of Blood; it is so action packed throughout and April is a fantastic character. The gritty apocalyptic setting was the perfect background to this blend of romance and action. This book has some great secondary characters that I actually would have liked to see a little more of but April and Rye were such great leading characters. Forget the sparkly vampires in Twilight, this book has REAL vampires and I really loved that. I want more of this world and the characters!
