Synopsis

For years Laia has lived in fear. Fear of the Empire, fear of the Martials, fear of truly living at all. Born as a Scholar, she’s never had much of a choice. But when Laia’s brother is taken she must force herself to help the Resistance, the only people who have a chance of saving him. She must spy on the Commandant, ruthless and deadly overseer of Blackcliff Academy.

Elias is the Academy’s finest soldier – and secretly it’s most unwilling. He has seen too much at on his path to becoming a Mask, one of the Empire’s elite warriors and is desperate to escape the Academy. If he succeeds, he will be named deserter. If found, the punishment will be death.

With the Masks’ help the Empire has conquered a continent and enslaved thousands, all in the name of power. Now they must find a new Emperor to rule over them. And before Elias can escape he’s ordered to participate in a ruthless contest to the death that will decide the next Martial emperor.

When Laia and Elias’s paths cross at the academy, they find that their destinies are more intertwined than either could have imagined and that their choices will change the future of the empire itself.

In the ashes of a broken world one person can make a difference. One voice in the dark can be heard. The price of freedom is always high. Sometimes it’s life itself.

My Thoughts

I have been looking forwards to this book since I first heard about it last year and that excitement has only grown as the release date draws closer, reviews have started to go up, and the gorgeous UK cover has been revealed. Though this has just released in the US I have to wait a little longer to get my hands on it This sounds like an amazing YA Fantasy novel that I simply cannot wait to read.

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that allows readers to share the books that they are most looking forwards to reading.

This week the book I have chosen to feature is King Tomb by Scarlett Dawn, book 3 in the Forever Evermore series.

Title: King Tomb

Author: Scarlett Dawn

Series: Forever Evermore #3

Publisher: Escape Publishing

Publication Date: 8th October

Links: Goodreads | Amazon | Amazon UK

Synopsis

From Scarlett Dawn comes the stunning, sexy, sensual, surprising, spell-binding conclusion to the best-selling first Forever Evermore trilogy.

Queen Shifter, Lily Ruckler, has found solace in brutal warfare. Her bloodied fists and bared fangs fill the holes left in her memory, the blank spaces that leave her soul aching and empty. Her only pleasure is in blood; her only salvation is the relationship she has with her infant child, the baby of unknown origins who brings her solace and stability.

When Elder Harcourt summons Lily and her protector Antonio back to the United States, Lily thinks nothing unusual about the change of location. But a standard reconnaissance mission leaves her trapped inside King Zeller’s private quarters, and at his mercy. Surprise attraction rapidly turns to a battle of wills and an intense power struggle that leaves no clear victor but plenty of resentment.

They are not allowed to nurse their wounds. In order to win the war against the Commoners, the King Vampire and Queen Shifter must work together. It should be easy. The war is turning, the battle is deadly, and both Lily and Ezra love the cold cleanliness of combat. But their chance meeting has led to more than an unlikely alliance. Secrets have a way of surfacing, especially on a torn-up battlefield, and Lily and Ezra are about to re-learn all they cannot remember. If they can’t control their emotions and responses, it will be to their own ruin and the destruction of everything around them.

My Thoughts

This series is definitely right at the top of my favourites for NA Fantasy Romance and due to the somewhat dramatic ending to book 2 I have been desperate for this book since last year. Luckily it releases reasonably soon so I don't have much longer to wait :)

The fugitive Osgaardan prince, Harkeld, is that man—whether he likes it or not. But the bounty on Harkeld’s head is high. He has outrun his father’s soldiers, but he can’t outrun the assassins who seek him—Fithians, trained in the art of killing. Even the Sentinel mages who guide and guard him are no match for Fithian steel. Faced with the ever-present threat of death, Harkeld must learn to use his fire magic. Or die.

Meanwhile, dark plots are unfolding in Osgaard’s gold-tiled palace, snaring Princess Brigitta and those she loves. And in the eastern kingdoms, young orphan Jaumé journeys with a band of mysterious and dangerous fighters, heading north for a purpose he does not understand.

My Thoughts

I have been waiting for this book for over 3 years! I first read The Sentinel Mage back when it first released and loved every single aspect of it. It is an incredible epic fantasy series that just ticks every single box (in fact most of the characters are in their early 20s so you could even kind of call this NA :P). I have been looking forwards for a long time to find out what will happen next to all the characters and I'm so glad I don't have to wait much longer!

Aria’s willing to take a chance, but then she falls in love with the Granter . . . and he wants his freedom. My Thoughts

This book just sounds utterly amazing. I'm getting back into reading a lot more Fantasy and Paranormal novels at the moment at this is just the sort of book I am looking for. To top it off, though I haven't read any of the other Daisy Whitney books I am a HUGE fan of the authors NA novels under her pen name.

Despite traveling the world with Liam, the man she loves, her life is in danger at every turn in her hunt for other Werewolves willing to stand against Margaret. Who better to fight then the blood line that shunned the role of power centuries ago?

Bloody battles surround her at every turn and when Mackenzie thinks all is lost, she has to find a way to embrace her past and accept her future.

My Thoughts

I utterly loved the first two books in this series and though I will be sad to say farewell to all the characters I can't wait to see how everything will conclude. If you haven't tried this series yet I highly recommend reading book 1 The Tempering which is currently free on Amazon.

Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever.

Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul.

But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

My Thoughts

I am a huge fan of Jennifer L. Armentout, the Covenant series counts amongst my favourite books and she is an all round fantastic writer. I have been excited for this book ever since she mention that she was writing a book about gargoyles. My Thoughts

Ok so I know I am getting a little ahead of myself as book 2 Mine hasn't even released yet (November 5th!) but this just sounds so good! It is from Remy's pov and follows on from where Mine finishes but with the inclusion of a few of the scenes from Real and Mine from Remy's perspective. Undercover cop Logan "Kash" Ryan can't afford a distraction like his new neighbor Rachel Masters, even if she's the most beautiful woman he's ever seen. To catch a serial killer, he needs to stay focused, yet all he can think about is the feisty, long-legged coed whose guarded nature intrigues him

A matter of lies...
Deceived and hurt before, Rachel would rather be a single, crazy cat lady than trust another guy, especially a gorgeous, tattooed bad boy with a Harley, like Kash. But when his liquid-steel eyes meet hers, it takes all of Rachel's will-power to stop herself from exploring his hot body with her own.

A matter of love...
As much as they try to keep it platonic, the friction between them sparks an irresistible heat that soon consumes them. Can Kash keep Rachel's heart and her life safe even as he risks his own? Will she be able to forgive his lies ... or will she run when she discovers the dangerous truth?

My Thoughts

You probably already know that I am crazy about Molly McAdams and her books. Taking Chances, From Ashes and Stealing Harper are all up there with my favourite NA novels and I can't wait to hopefully add this book to the list. I have read the first few chapters of this book as they were at the end of my copy of Stealing Harper and now I am more desperate than ever to read the rest.

***EDIT*** Since writing this I have actually been lucky enough to read an e-arc and it is AMAZING! Now I am anxiously waiting for book 2! :D

But victory has a high price. Will she risk everything and return to the Wheel? Or will she leave Liam, the boy she loves, to his fate? Battered. Bloodied. Defiant. Alenna's fight for survival continues.

My Thoughts

Last year I read book on in this trilogy, The Forsaken, and I absolutely loved it. It is a fantastic and different dystopian story and I am very excited to read the next instalment. I just hope it lives up to the first book!
