As you all know I love books. I also love helping people. What you may not know about me but that stems from both these two is that I love beta reading.
What is a beta reader?
Basically a beta reader is someone who reads a book before release (even before reviewers get arcs) and lets the author know what works and doesn't. They generally point out any plot holes, characters that aren't believable, chapters that are confusing and factual errors. You have probably seen at least one book where almost every reviewer says "I hated this character" or "The ending didn't make sense". This is what beta readers help prevent; they give you a readers perspective of the book. Also a few fresh sets of eyes may help catch factual errors the author may have missed.
Some authors wait until everything else has been done (eg. editing) before sending their book to beta readers, others prefer to do it much earlier in the writing and editing process.
Why are you telling me this?
If you are an author I am currently available to beta read and I have experience with a range of genres and age categories (YA, NA, Adult - Fantasy, Paranormal, Contemporary, PNR). I try to give detailed feedback on the characters, plot line, development etc. and I will also point out massively noticeable spelling or grammar errors (I am not an editor and I do not charge for beta reading so I won't spend a long time hunting for errors). *I can also proofread the book for you for a small fee - details at the bottom*
If you are interested in the possibility of me beta reading your as yet unreleased book then I recommend browsing through my blog and goodreads page to see if you think your book will be something I will love. It will work best for you if your beta reader is your exact target audience. Obviously if your book has no romance and your beta hates books without romance then all the feedback you will receive will say "It needs more romance" which is a waste of time if you don't want romance in your novel.
If you think I will be a good fit for your book send me an email with a description of your book and any other information eg. when you want it beta read and any deadlines you have like release days or similar. We can then discuss whether I will be a good beta for you to help get your book to the best it can be. You can find my email address as well as links to my twitter and goodreads on my contact me page.
